Few things in life say more about you than your home. What's inside those walls, on those walls, and against those walls, speak volumes about who you are, what you love, where you've been - your style. It goes without saying that you should use the same thinking when choosing natural stone products for your home. Because any floor covering in your home impacts interior beauty, design, décor, comfort, livability and upkeep. It's a fact, floor coverings can make, or break, a home.

With such a wide variety from which to choose, natural stone is becoming the flooring product of choice by more commercial building owners. Once considered for use in upscale kitchens, bathrooms or other high end commercial spaces, natural stone flooring is beginning to be viewed as a limitless, sturdy, practical and quality option for any type of interior flooring application. The types of natural stone range from granite and marble to travertine, slate, sandstone, and limestone. Among each of these there exists numerous varieties making for endless options.

The number of natural stone choices, patterns, colors, textures and price points can intimidate even the most experienced shopper. Our design consultants have the knowledge, and experience, to help you select the best materials for your flooring projects.

Granite is the most durable architectural building stone. Used in a wide array of residential and commercial applications, granite is ideal for floors, walls and countertops. The increasing popularity of granite is a testament to it's beauty, versatility and consistency. Granite is quarried worldwide with many exotic colors and patterns.

Marble products are processed from blocks that are quarried all around the world. This metamorphic rock is comprised primarily of calcium carbonate and other minerals that create a wide variety of colors. Applications include floor tiles, wall tiles, vanities and other surfaces.

Similar to granite and marble, limestone is processed for a wide range of interior and exterior applications including floor tiles, wall tiles and vanities. Limestone can be polished to a high gloss finish, but is more commonly known for it's honed (matte), tumbled (antique or acid washed) and natural (split face or fought) finishes, typically in more neutral tones.

Slate is a fine grained metamorphic rock that splits into thin, smooth surfaced layers. The most common building applications for slate are floor, wall and fireplace surrounds. Tiles can be split and cut to size with only the natural cleft surface, or manufacturers can add value by calibrating the material to ensure a consistent thickness throughout the piece.

Travertine is limestone that has been formed over a long period of time. The product is porous with many visible holes. It is available in colors ranging from ivory to golden brown. The holes and cavities may be filled with matching portland cement, colored epoxy or polyester resins.

Quartz is similar to slate in texture and thickness but, because of it's mica inclusions, gives off a beautiful shimmer under the light. Quartz is available in it's natural cleft form or it can be honed or polished to increase it's luster. This versatile stone has many applications including floor, wall and countertop tiles. Anywhere you can use slate, you can use quartz.
